Google is known for making fool of the world on every April’s Fool’s day. Google pranks are sometime so elaborate that a high number of Internet users believe them to be true. Today is the April Fool’s day of 2013 and Google chose its YouTube platform to bamboozle unsuspecting people.

Google announced that the YouTube service is going to shutdown at the end of today as it was nothing but an eight-year long contest to select the best ever video. Google also said that now the “contest” is over and it was time to declare the winner!

They posted a 3:32 minutes long video on YouTube homepage. The video elaborates how YouTube was just a competition and “It’s finally time to pick the winner”

“We are so close to the end. Tonight at midnight, youtube.com will no longer be accepting entries. After eight amazing years, it is finally time to review everything that has been uploaded to our site and begin the process of selecting a winner,” said Tim Liston, named as “competition director.”

YouTube CEO Salar Kamangar said that “we started YouTube in 2005 as a contest with a simple goal: to find the best video in the world.”

The video goes on and Tim Liston says that “Distinguished” film critics, YouTube celebrities and some of the site’s “most prolific” commentators are on the judges’ panel.
