Many of those who get into the rough waters of Professional Blogging soon realize that it is not easy to make money out of this business. I have been advocating that you need to work hard and be very patient if you want to succeed in making living through blogs. You also need to have a certain set of language and technology related skills.

Some times, however, despite all the efforts, you may start losing hope and you may want to do something else. It is very natural and also depends a lot on your circumstances. Blogs don’t give you money overnight. But if you have given blogging a serious try -you might have developed some skills that you can use to make a living in case your blog is not working. Writing articles is one such skills. This is among the best things you can do to earn money online.

Who Can I Write For?

Obviously, you can write for other bloggers who are ready to pay for your work. But that’s not all. If you can write well, freelance writing can actually be a lucrative full-time career for you. There are lots of content provider firms who buy articles from freelancers and sell them to the website owners such as blogs, newspapers, online magazines etc. You can contact such firms. This saves you the hassle of finding clients. However this approach will pay you less because the firm will keep it’s commission.

You can register yourself on Upwork and other similar websites that provide freelance jobs. On such job portals you can get a variety of jobs like writing, web/software development, SEO, graphic designing etc. These are the skills that every serious blogger will have and these can be used for freelancing.

Alternatively, you can advertise your services as content writer on free classified ad services. Every big and small country has online channels where you can put your ads free of cost. There are lots of other options as well. Websites like Craiglist, Gumtree and Kudzu etc. are world’s top sites for posting classifieds.

What Should I Write About?

It obviously depends on clients’ wish what they want you to write about. If you have been blogging about tech stuff, you may prefer to select clients who want tech articles. If you feel more connected with current affairs and news, you can contact newspapers. But if you ask me, it really doesn’t matter. If you’re well versed with language and can do research, I am sure you can write about any subject. Internet is a treasure trove of information and helpful tools like online proofreading services. You just need to know how to find the right information and then write a nice article around it.

How Much Can I Earn from Writing Articles?

I hope you understand that I can not really answer this question! Charges depend on a number of factors like subject, client’s paying capacity, going rates in your area, articles length, research required and last, but not the least, your ability to write engaging stuff.

Okay, okay, okay. I can see that you still want me to tell you a figure. So, allow me to share with you that a regular article written in English may go for at least US$ 20. The upper limit can be anything depending on the factors I mentioned above.

How Do I Receive Payment?

Usually payments for freelance work are made via PayPal. If you don’t know about PayPal, you should know it now! This is the easiest way to receive (and send) payments from anywhere in the world.

PayPal is easy and safe.

If your client is in you city, you can accept payment in cash or cheque. You should not worry about client’s location because PayPal works very well and you will have no problem in getting payment. But, of course, you should work only for trustworthy clients who pay and pay on time.

While Freelancing, Should I Leave Blogging?

My suggestion would be that you keep on blogging on your blog also. You can begin to write articles for others to earn quick money; but you should also write for your own blog every now and then to keep it active. Blogs take time before they take off. You should not abandon them just like that. Keep on blogging!

Soon, I will write about some more options that you can use to earn money from the skills acquired as part of your blogging journey. I know that all these options are important for you because they keep you afloat while you move towards your goal of earning from your own blog.

Happy blogging friends! Let me know if you have any questions in this regard. Do comment.

All this being said if you’re a fast writer, and you don’t spend a lot of time on each article, maybe you could make minimum wage working on Demand Studio stuff. Which would be cool if you’re working from home and that’s all the money you were looking for. But long-term, other “freelance” writing jobs would be likely to net you a lot more. Blogging is my favorite.

I’ve done quite a bit of freelance writing, myself–not the website, but jobs you hunt down for yourself in corporate America–and the income can be excellent, but often requires a lot more personal marketing or a good list of personal contacts. And you’ll need to be able to prove you can do the work with a combination of references, education, and samples. You also need to have the good aptitude for customer service, so you can keep your clients happy.

    Hi Sir,
I like your website very much. It’s all in 1 package. No need to search for another website. When I open the laptop, yours is the first and the last website I look into. Can you please suggest some websites to write and article for others. Thanks and Regards.
