In today’s modern world, the need to stay connected at all times is very important. All these new gadgets provide us with excellent connectivity options so that we can stay in touch with our friends and family at all times. All this was not possible only a decade ago, but technology has advanced to such an extent that even the impossible is now possible. To think that we are talking about 4G technology is amazing because a few years ago, we were still cursing dial up connections for being too slow. Today however, we are faced with new challenges. These tasks seem simpler than the ones we faced before but they are still a growing concern.

A lot of iPad and iPhone users have for long wondered whether they can connect their computers to the internet just using these devices. Well, the answer to this question is yes! If you have the right knowledge and skills, you will be able to achieve this in no time at all.

Let’s take a detailed look at how  iPhones and iPads can be used to connect your computer to the massive world of internet.

Research

Before you jump on the 4G bandwagon, it’s important that you understand the type of device you own. Is it a 2G iPhone or a 3G? Do some research on the internet and find out all the specifications of your phone. Which software does it support and which version do you have installed. Is it updated? You will also find relevant data online with regards to your phone. All this information is very important if you want to connect your computer to the internet via an Apple device.

Check your Computer

There are a lot of things that have to be set into place before you even begin to attempt connecting to the internet. Begin by checking your computer. Which version of Windows do you have installed? Does the computer have any viruses? Make sure that the computer is in an appropriate condition and is ready to connect to the internet. Once you eliminate all the barriers, you will easily be able to connect to the internet via an iPhone or an iPad.

What You Need To Have

There is certain basic equipment that you will need to have in order to establish a connection. This includes an iPhone or an iPad. It could be any version, ranging from a 2G to a 4G. Also, you should get a data connectivity package from your mobile data subscriber.  Then you need to have an iPhone data cable or the PC charger cable. Furthermore, you need to have iTunes installed on your system and make sure it is the 8.2 version.  All these are the basic key elements that will be needed to connect to the internet. Once you have these, you can proceed further.

Unlocked and Jailbreak

Your Apple device should be unlocked or at least jail broken. Otherwise you won’t be able to access the connectivity options. You can get it unlocked using special unlocking software available online for free. The connection will only work if the phone supports the system so make sure you have it unlocked and in a functional state.

Tether Enabled

According to Broadband Expert, UK based internet provider, 4G could be a breakthrough for those in the UK looking for fast internet. Enable data connectivity on your phone. Then go to the tether profile and the phone will guide you through the rest of the process. Select your country, carrier and then reboot your phone. If you can’t find your country, you can even create one on your own. Then the phone will ask for basic information, fill it out. There is no need to enter the user name and password, just press download.

Now install tethering after you are done. Connect your Apple device to your computer using the cable but don’t turn on iTunes. Switch on tethering on your phone and now the magic will happen. Your computer will assume your phone to be a modem and connect with it.  If the connection is a success, you will see a blue light flashing with internet tethering written on your phone’s screen. You will also be charged, depending on the use.
