FeedBurner Subscribers Count Comes Down to Zero

Samyak Lalit | September 21, 2012 (Last update: July 16, 2017)

Samyak Lalit is an Indian author and disability rights activist. He is the principal author and founder of projects like TechWelkin, WeCapable, Viklangta, Kavita Kosh among many others.

This morning when I opened one of my websites –I was greeted with a zero email subscribers shock. FeedBurner chicklet on my website was showing “0 readers” whereas just last night the count was over 600 readers. All of a sudden subscriber count had come down to zero. However, this shock didn’t panic me because for me it was the second time when FeedBurner email subscribers count had suddenly come down to zero. Also some users encounter a gradual decline in FeedBurner count from original to zero.

If you are also facing this problem, just relax, it is a temporary bug in FeedBurner and it has occurred before as well. Google guys will sort out the problem and your email subscribers count will get restored to normal.

How to check your FeedBurner Email Subscriber count?

Also, if you will log into your FeedBurner account and go to Publicize > Email Subscriptions; you will find the list of all your subscribers safe and sound.

Moreover, while the subscribers count is appearing zero in chicklet –you can rest assured that new people can subscribe to your feed as usual. The entire process runs as usual –it’s only the count that takes a plunge for reasons known only to FeedBurner folks. There has been no official word on this problem.

Zero count looks bad indeed. You may choose to remove chicklet from your website for a few days so that the new subscribers don’t feel discouraged by seeing zero subscribers. Keep an eye on your FeedBurner account. As soon as the subscribers count is restored to normal –you can put the chicklet back in its place.

I hope Google finds a permanent solution to this annoying and recurring problem. Please, through comments, let me know if you have any questions in this regard. Thank you for using TechWelkin!
